Tagged red

Me and some of my buddies walked over to the iop marina and got two bags of mullet. Then it was a decision of where to fish, considering we were on foot. On the way back from the marina we noticed several boats fishing near the Morgan creek bridge, and we assumed there might be some action there. Put the lines in the water and in less than 10 seconds I had a nice red on. My buddy put the net on him and we noticed something we rarely see. He was tagged. After a few pics of the tag for the DNR we released the 28" inch red. After that it was a constant bite. Released all fish, and had to stop fishing due to no BAIT. Ended up with 13 reds, and a seagull…

How great is that? Awesome job

Never caught a tagged fish. Isn’t there supposed to be some sort of number or code on the tag? Otherwise there would be no point of tagging right?

yes, DNR would prefer you write down the number and send them all the pertinent info, and release the fish…multiple recaptures helps a lot…

anybody think that tag location is too far from the dorsal fin? looks like it is in more meat than it should be…

nice report Tailsup…

Yes, and I was casting from shore. Fish the back side of the docks, had no action on any of the pilings.

Thanks. That’s what I thought. Can you get a tagging kit from DNR?

Was your head still cold after 5 days?

LOL ^^^^ Ifly that was funny!

Next time you catch one with a tag record all the data and send it to DNR for a free T-shirt
