Tagged Redfish

Can someone give me the info about where to send tagged fish Id #s? I can email or send the information. Caught a couple of tagged fish last week. Thanks in advance.

SCDNR website. They will sometimes send you a Tee Shirt.

Captain, you should call John Archambault of the Estuarine Finfish Section down on Fort Johnson at 843-953-9234.

Most Charter captains have those numbers already plugged into their phones.
MY phone has a listing for:
Blue Tags(Sharks Mostly)
Orange tags( DNR )
Yellow tags (rec anglers)

What color was it?

The newest tags for the volunteer program are green.

Then I would assume the green tags(for recreational anglers) would fall into the yellow tag number.

Robert…you can also take them in if you are over this way. Go to the main building…last me near the docks. The man who handles it has some really cool stuff they have found while tagging fish . There’s a whole wall of stuff. Last time I got a choice of hat or tshirt

Also for anyone who has kids…the old two story house n the left after you pass the office for license renewal has some cool free stuff you can jackpot for kids…coloring books…posters etc.

You can also win a cash prize
I caught one last week with an orange tag. 702 days later and 13 miles closer to sea

SCDNR would like for you to report the date, length of the fish, and the approximate location that it was caught.

They will in return, send you some history of the fish you caught. Such as previous locations that the fish was caught and tagged.

Gives you a good idea as to the growth rate and movement of the fish.

This is one of the better examples of your tax dollars and license fees at work!

John Archambault is your man if they’re orange tags, I caught seven orange tagged fish last summer and didn’t get any response from the hotline, John responded quickly to an email

I release most redfish, especially the tagged ones. I am sure reporting the info and returning the fish healthy will give it a better chance to be caught again for further information used by the biologists.

I forwarded the info to the hotline. How will I know they received the information?

Thanks in advance.
