I had a first the other day, took a couple out fishing and caught a tagged shark out at the jetties. Only thing on the tag was a number, nothing about who to report it to. Anyone have any experience with this and if so, who do I contact to relay tag info? Thank you
Cut mullet, shad and bonita was keeping me very busy. Couldn’t keep lines in the water with so many hook ups. (since this is the report section)

Its most likely a noaa cooperative shark program tag. They are yellow with a clear tip with a number in it. If you look that up it will tell you what to do. I cant remember off the top of my head how i turned them in last year. They will send you the where and when it was tagged. Most likely tagged on Sullivan’s island by Apex shark fishing.
Species?
Color of tag?
Dart tag into body or roto-tag through dorsal?

That’s what the tag looked like. I will look into it, thank you!

Real good guy usually gets back to you pretty quick
Morgan Hart took over the recreational tagging program from Robert W, not a guy anymore!
Mr. Wiggers is still involved in the tagging program, I think he is a scientist. Not handling all of the implementation/paperwork by himself anymore.

Waiting to hear back from Morgan. Officer Wiggers turned over the tagging program to Morgan. We’ll see what she says. The tags that NOAA uses look different than the tag this shark had. I actively participate in the inshore tagging program and the tag on the shark was different than those yellow tags as well.
