tagging progam

I recievd two good points of interest about the marine game fish tagging programm this week.

  1. In Sunday’s paper (Post & Courier) there was an article about the re-start of the recreational anglers’ Marine game fish tagging program. I have done this for years, and even now still have a few dolphin tags, though it’s rare when I’m able to tag them. But I look forward to participating again.

  2. I recieved a tagging report on a fish I had tagged. A king mackerel I tagged in this area on 8/5/2006, yes 2006, was recently (10/11/12) caught off of North Carolina. 10 lbs when tagged, 25 Lbs 6 years later. Not a terribly far distance to travel especially in 6 years, but (**(), 6 years later (2259 days)!!!

Niiiccccceeeee!

That’s the longest time at large for a king mackerel ever tagged in this program. Awesome recapture! If no one cares now, they will sooner or later.
