Tailers 7-2 w/pictures.

Had the best day yet. I went to my usual spot only to find two boats already there. That sucked. I then went up the broad river to a spot that i always wanted to try out. A storm was coming through and i needed to get out of the river for a little bit. I went up a small creek towards an island only to find a big long flat. I have fished on the back side of this island with no success. I could already here some fish busting aroundso i had a pretty good idea they would be there.

On the way up the river, i lost my push pole, which was also my anchor. That sucked. I had to take a bucket and fill to use as an anchor. More to come on that.

I walk out on the flat and I am on fish immediately. The first fish i hook and he comes off but does not spook. I back up a little to give him some room only to spook two fish behind me between me and the boat. I ended up catching 4 reds and i could have caught more if my boat had not come unachored and was floating away. I ended up having to wade/swim about a 100yds through the marsh to get it back.

The reds were all between 4-9lbs. There my have been 30 fish along this 500yd flat. I have never seen anything like it, not even in the mosquito lagoon. They were tailing non-stop.

Pictures to come tonight. They are not the best, but i do have a good one of a red tailing about 8 feet away from me.

Chris.

Nice report! Sorry about your push pole.

I as down there last night. It was off the hook. Took 3 in the grass. Didn’t see another boat.

Were you above or below the 170 bridge?

We never got hit by the storm, it stayed to the south.

I was below it. I saw two other boats fishing the broad. I put in at Pinkney Colony and come across. I was in a 17’ alumacraft john boat. I was coming back to the ramp at about 8 and cruising the shore and i could still see reds tailing on some flats. i stopped twice to try and pick one off, but no pole or trolling motor, i could not stay in place to cast. I saw another big shark cruising the edge of the flat. The second 4-5’ shark this year like that.

That’s just sick! I still have not aught one in Charleston tailing. Good work!

AWESOME!.. what fly did you catch em on?

Good luck Bros

We were in a red hewes. I didn’t see you I don’t think. I did hook a 3’ shark earlier that day.

We had a shark rig, but I was on the bow while my buddy was poling on low tide. Ate my madmikes mudminnow. Took me to halfway through my backing and wasn’t slowing until I put the heat on him. That was all it took, the 20lb parted immediately.

Beaufort is a sharky area.

I went last night with not much success. I took a buddy of mine that does not fish to much to show him the ropes. We get out of the boat and see numberous fish immediately. I hook the first fish with one cast only to have him run me deep into the tall stuff. After trying to horse him back, he pulls the hook. the wind picked up and it was hard to stay on fish. We saw a bunch of fish and had several hookups with no luck getting one in. They were not feeding as hard as the were a couple of days ago.
I will be back out on them in two week.
