Anybody see any yesterday?
We saw several fish and only a couple were tailing. They seemed to be more keyed in on mullet than crabs. I caught one big fish that had been chasing mullet and stopped for a quick crab appetizer.
Most of the reds we are seeing seem to be out in deeper water. Hopefully today or tomorrow they will move up.

Mid afternoon flood tides the last two days in the heat have had the fish in Savannah cruising more than chewing.
I had 3 flies in the sweet spot today and no bites.
I saw the first black drum on the flats today and he wasn’t interested in a merkin.
Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.
I saw 5 confirmed reds yesterday. I saw two tailing. The rest were cruising, and a couple were cruising really fast. I managed to break off the first that was tailing, but caught the 2nd one.

John,
Were you with that big group of people on that flat? We pulled up and it looked like a parking lot.
The red I caught was slamming mullet in 12" of water at high speed. I have seen them do it at low tide, but not up on top of a flat like that. Most of them are lazily cruising looking for crabs, this fish was clearly up there to get mullet.

There were only two of us on this particular flat. Keep in mind that this flat is in Beaufort, SC.

I was reading the in inshore section that the water in Charleston was hot. The flats we were on the water has not been real bad. Hopefully when this tides get a little later M-W, the reds will turn on.

John,
Believe I saw you working that fish on Sunday. We had just come down from Dawes. You appeared to be side stepping on him. Glad the moves proved succesful if it was you. We headed up the broad and fished flats on the right. Not a single tail seen. That’s twice now I’ve been skunked in Beaufort. Must be the water temp but it didn’t seem this slow last year.
Cheers,

Walked flats on 7/12 and 13. Lots of water, lots of fiddlers, no tails, 3 cruisers, 2 of those didn’t even give a look, 3rd fish tipped up like it was going to take it, then poof…
