Take your kid fishing

Was able to get away for a few days and visit the family in Chucktown, my son is finally coordinated enough to reel! We caught this little guy on my parents pond, he is hooked! We all need to slow down and make sure the kids get hooked into fishing and not all their iPads or iPods!

Yes indeed! I’ve had my boy on the water since he was 2. Here’s a video from when he was 3, throwing a spinning reel. This is at the Wake Forest Reservior in North Carolina.

Thanks, that’s awesome Matt, he doesn’t have the casting part down, several times to pole went in the water! Nonetheless a fun time

That’s the way to raise them :sunglasses: My boy was about born on a charter boat. I used to do some commercial bait shrimping and took him along many days when he was just 2 or 3. I would stuff his little butt in a bucket to keep him out of the way of the net lines. Momma complained but he was happy

He’s 25 now and a first class kid

Lol we’ve been fortunate, my boy hasn’t launched a rod yet. I’ve been whipped in the head a few times but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I when he was three, I took my son out in the back yard of the apartment complex with a spinning reel (6’ rod). I tied on a big colorful bobber and a 1 ounce bank sinker for him to cast. He was struggling just a little (as expected), but a small group of girls (several, maybe 6-8 years old) walked by and started watching him… and then by some strange twist of fate, somehow, some way, he suddenly got really good at it.:sunglasses:
