I folks, I have a friend driving over from Alabama with his two Boys ages 12 and 9 to fish Saturday. Have not been out this year so not sure the best way to fish. My plan is to fish from the Dam to the Islands with free lines and down lines. Not asking for secret spots just general information. What depth should I be looking in and how deep for down lines. We don’t plan to keep any fish and I don’t mind a bunch of shorts. I really want these kids to have fun. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!! PM me if you would rather.
Not yet quite time for downrods although some have been finding small concentrations around the 30’ depths … We fished Goat last Saturday and we picked up fish all the way around the island with the bigger fish coming at the points next to deeper water … We circled the island twice and had 14 Stripers …
Since it’s not a military secret here’s a screen grab from when we started our pull … When I took that screenshot we already had 6 boated and released … We were pulling Herring on planer boards and free/float lines …
You should do well in the mid-lake areas around Goat, Spence, and Bomb … Look on your graph for areas with long points like the ones above …
My cousin has been catching a lot of shorts and a few keepers trolling big lipped crankbaits near Susie Ebert. Depthfinder shows a lot of fish scattered in water from 25’ out to 50’. Early mornings and late weekday afternoons have been best for him.
Thanks for the info. The boys was able to catch a couple of keepers and two or three shorts near near Law crushers hot spot. Fun watching those boys having a good time.
