I’m still pretty new to saltwater fishing, but considering taking the wife offshore fishing tomorrow for the first time. I’m thinking of going after black sea bass on one of the nearshore reefs with some frozen mullet from last summer, but any suggestions/recommendations? Going out the jetties. Thanks!
You should find lots of small bsb’s at the nearshore and maybe a few keepers. Take some fiddlers and try for sheephead as well.

Make sure you have some sort of “potty.” A five gallon bucket works in a pinch. Don’t plan on staying too long for her first trip. When she is ready to leave, leave and she will be much more likely to go again.

My wife always takes dramamine. Takes it at least an hour before leaving. Better have some sort of music as well.
As mentioned, 5 gal bucket works well.
And bait her hook and take her fish off. Don’t ask her to pull the anchor.

If it’s bumpy, turn around quick. Don’t push on thinking it will get better. Just fish around the jetties and maybe cruise a little.
Good luck!!

Problem solved.

On the Draminine stuff, I recommend taking a tablet before you go to bed and then in the morning before leaving the house. It gives the stuff a chance to get “worked in good” throughout the system.
And what’s wrong with y’alls wives…mine pulls our anchor…it’s her job!

Actually my wife pulls the anchor when I don’t have a young man aboard.

There is much wisdom in this…
If I get murdered in the city, don’t go revenging in my name…
Another little trick with the 5 gallon bucket is bringing a short section of a pool noodle sliced in half on one side only. Slip the noodle over the edge of the bucket and it makes thing more comfortable.

thanks everyone, lots of good advice. For better or worse (probably better), we skipped the fishing on Saturday, but at least make it out to cruise for a bit. It may or may not have put a +1 in the “good husband” column, but at least it wasn’t a -1 in the “fishing” column!
So I guess I’m spoiling my wife, I’ve got a port a potty in my console. I gotta get rid of that thing and teach her to handle an anchor and some chain. lol

When I bought my boat it came with a porta potty. I told the dealer to remove it before i picked up the boat. He explained it was part of the package, I don’t care, get that stinky thing off my boat. I need the room in the console for fishing stuff. Wife totally agreed. A five gallon bucket works fine.

I’ve had my wife bucket trained for 40 years. She pulls the anchor too

Well, I did that wrong… I added the porta-potty! Little did I know that she was supposed to be happy with the bucket. I would have even let her pick out the bucket color and the color of the noodle “seat liner”!
