Talon vs Power Pole?

I have seen them, I have sutdied them, and I have read a bunch of reviews. Both are close in price, and both do the same job.

Is one actually better than the other?

The only issue I can see is, perhaps, the talon could get grit up inside that could possible make it fail. On the other hand, the talon can be removed while the Power Pole stays attached.

Any takers/actual user experience?

Thanks,

The Hull Truth had some great discussions. So I bought the PowerPole.

I prefer the Talon, never had an issue with it failing. Ease of removal and internal motors made the decision for me.

When I bought my current boat, it had a Power Pole and I love it. But I was fairly sure that I wanted a Talon if I was going to buy either. I like the ease of removing the Talon from the boat if I needed to and how it deployed as compared to the Power Pole. Now, after owning the Power Pole and having a little experience with the Talon on a friend’s boat, I am glad that I’ve got the Power Pole. The Talon is too noisy for me and Power Pole’s customer service is second to none. As for the ease of removing it from my boat, I haven’t been in a situation where I needed to or wanted to and with the fishing that I do, I probably won’t.

Thanks guys for the appraisal of the two. I’m leaning toward the Power Pole, and I just wanted hear from some users. I grabbed both products on the dealer’s showroom floor, and the Talon was a lot more wobbly and seemed like a good jolt would knock it off the boat. The Talon was also mounted ona bracket that didn’t help how solid it appeared. If it was anchored directly to the transom, it probably would have been a little different.

I didn’t know about the noise from the talon either.

Thanks a bunch.

No experience with the Talon.

I have dual Powerpole’s on my boat and they work very well.

I can also say that Powerpole’s Customer Service is unbelievable! Just ask anyone who owns one.

Come to the Low Country Redfish Cup tourney @ IOP marina this weekend and see what type of shallow water anchors are on the boats.

A power pole/shallow water anchor is all I am missing. I have the boat and all the gadgets I need other than that. Although it will be little while before I drop $2000 on a Power Pole, the info is still good so I can plan for it. I gotta get a L3200DT tractor next month from Steen so I can plant for the deer and keep my place up. I like to shoot deer too. I would love to come to the redfish tourny, but like I told RADDADDY in another post, Okinawa, Japan is a little too far for me to make it. I’ll be home in May.
