I know most of you in here all fish solo, but I imagine that many of you have been faced at some point about geting a kayak that the whole family can enjoy. What would be a good kayak that I could get that my son would be happy spending time in with dad, would be flexible enough to let me go solo, and still have decent value for the day when he wants his own.
I first looked at the Pamlico 135T for its ability to adjust for solo, and while I prefer the SOT, he really liked paddling a canoe this weekend, and feel he may be more comfortable in a sit in.
I have an old, old, old Pamlico. I don’t use it much, but it is a really nice boat…It’s light and paddles great. I’m sure the new ones are much better in terms of seating, storage etc.
That said, I’d check into a demo from Timeout. There is also the East Coast paddlesports event this weekend. https://www.ccprc.com/Calendar.aspx?EID=4310&month=4&year=2015&day=18&calType=0
I think anyone will tell you, try before you buy…Good luck!
I love my ultimate native fx tandem. Adjustable seats allow for high or low seating, very stable and able to stand comfortably. Easily fish tandem or alone .Time out sports have them in stock. A really well thought out boat.
Check out the Jackson Big Tuna. I’m in the same situation. I would also like to try the Ultimate but I really like that the Big Tuna is self bailing. I rented a Big Tuna a while back and really enjoyed it.
