tangle free rig

Looking for a rig to fish pogys on under docks that they can’t tangle up. Tried basic carolina rig but they somehow manage to tangle it up. Anyone have any ideas on what and how to tie up something like this to use pogy’s under a dock.

Pogies are tanglin’ fools. Especially as tide slacks, or in areas with light current.
Longer distances between weight (or cork) and hook or are especially vulnerable. Keep it short.
Try: pinning pogie to jig head, a knocker rig, or a simple rig with removable split shot pinched on leader, when it tangles (which it inevitably will), remove hook and shot, cut tangle out and reaaffix hook and shot.

I haven’t ever really had a problem with them? I fish no more that a 12" Carolina rig…

Try hooking them behind the doral fin instead of the nose! That seems to work for me, seem to make the swim away instead of in circles

Thanks for the information. Will give it a try.

I forgot to say, hook them in the back meat or by tail. Mullet menhaden and minnows, when hooked in the ose swim down, when hooked in back swim up. So any bait on a bottom rig I hook it through tail, so it swims up about a foot off bottom depending on my leader, it works a lot better

use of higher diameter leader material will tangle up the main line as well. try to keep the leader line ~ the same as your main line. example 12lb main line + 25lb leader = trouble

liquor in the front, poker in the rear!
