Anyone on here work on them or know someone. Got a call yesterday saying my son had water pouring out of his heater. Second time in a month this has happened. Something inside it has gone wrong and it was pouring water. The last time he said something had froze and he called a plumber that came out and said it was some kind of valve and replaced it. Don’t know the brand but it isn’t but a couple of years old.
It could have come out of the factory yesterday…if it freezes, he’s likely to bust something.
When the temps fall into the 20s (or the teens) he needs to run a hot & a cold faucet in the house overnight. These heaters, and their water lines, are commonly placed outside of the home. Running the water helps ease alot of headaches. Just remind him to turn the water heater off so he’s not burning gas all night! LoL
Thanks Tugted, is he on here? Cape_fisherman it happened the first time in early January. I went to his house on Thursday before the oyster roast and turned on the cold water in kitchen sink and hot water in the bathroom sink per plumbers instructions. I left them with a small steady stream of water coming out and the power switch was also turned off. Not sure what brand it is. Luckily the neighbor on that side of the house saw it and called us. I told him to just turn the water off where it went in the heater.
Tell your son to find some heat trace and wrap this around the exposed pipes on the feed side. That is what’s on my tankless and I have never had a problem with freezing.
