Taped deephole net and bait

Can you have a taped net on board when baiting??? I’m thinking of a double attack…

as long as it has at least 1/2" mesh you should be ok…

When I get back from the Sandbox, lets get some deep hole shrimp

So far nothing “definitive”…even a DNR guys I asked wasn’t sure.

At least 1/2" mesh for bait, nothing about tape in the regs. If not over bait, it don’t matter.

We carry our taped deep hole net with us all the time. No issues that I know of…

My cousin uses the same net for deep hole and baiting simply for the convenience/cost of not needing 2 higher quality nets. Nothing illegal about using a taped net over bait. BUT if you’re baiting in enough water that taping your net would help keep it open I think you’re a little too deep and probably won’t be getting the net over your bait anyways. Just my opinion though…

I use a taped net all the time whether I am in shallow or deeper water. Never tried deep hole shrimping but I am thinking about it.

Is there a season on deep hole?

No season for deep hole shrimping. Can deep hole shrimp anytime. But, if deep hole shrimping before or after bait season, make real sure all you have in the boat is the net.

Sort of…you need to read the creel limit regs.
