Taping a net

OK so we’re finally gonna make it down this weekend to do some scouting and throw a net a little while. Since I don’t have time to order a pre-taped net, I’m gonna stop by Sportsmans Warehouse this afternoon and pick up a new net and tape it myself. I’ve heard that clear packaging tape works better than the standard gray duct tape.

Any thoughts on which tape is the best?

I taped a 7’ net with Gorilla duct tape and it worked just fine…if you can find 2" wide filament tape that would be best, you know, the kind you have to cut and can’t tear…otherwise spend a little more on your tape and it will last longer…tape inside and out, a couple of inches above the lead line…I would not tape a net with clear packing tape, but that’s just my opinion…with a little effort it should work out fine for you…

Thanks for the info Bonzo. I watched an old buddy of mine years ago tape a net with duct tape so I know the procedure pretty well. I’ll try the gorilla tape like you mentioned…

Check Gander mountain in North charleston, I think I saw a taped one on the shelf.

If you can’t find one anywhere else Seewee Outpost has taped nets. I bought one there and really like it,reasonable too.

Haddrells might also have some more taped nets in stock…
