As still a relative newbie to the Blue Water, I’m looking to specifically target Wahoo. I’ve been lucky enough to catch a few when “generic” trolling with skirted ballyhoo – mostly catching Dolphin, but snag some other species from time to time. What is your recommended method? Do you use skirted ballyhoo, naked ballyhoo, lures? If lures, what kind? High speed bullet head rigs? Double hooks? How are they set up? Not looking for your “special” set-up, just something I can buy, fish and hope to have success with until I get the real feel for it. I really want to target Wahoo on some trips. Specifics would be helpful…size, weight, etc. Thanks!
start with some Yozuri Bonita lures in green mackerel, purple and bright orange colors. troll on driggers or planers. go as fast as lure will allow while still running true. size depending on speed and sea conditions.
