Great fishing and happy to contribute to the research. Thank you Bonefish & Tarpon Trust and thank you Capt. Steve for showing me the ropes in your backyard. My brother Travis and I both landed tarpon over 100 pounds that were implanted with satellite tags. Hunter Allen and Bobby Perry also caught a tarpon on my boat while fishing Georgetown but we didn’t get a satellite tags in them. Here is video of my brother’s 140-lb tarpon>

Bruce had that landing/tagging dialed in. It was really cool to be on board and see how it was done. Look forward to next year and getting them back up early in migration.

Thats awesome can’t wait to get that data. You’ll think that after this front they are still around?

The tarpon fishing is not done yet - one or two more of these fronts will get them moving south. I feel certain we still have tarpon north of us.

Awesome pics and excited to see those tags go in. We were a little late to the party on Friday.

Steve and Jr…How many have you caught, how many bites, this year so far and in how many trips? I know you 2 are top notch and I’m really curious …PM me if you don’t want to post

Steve much more than me, but I’m 14 fish to boat for 46 bites this year. I have done a little over 30 tarpon trips this year so we average 1.3 bites per trip. Most bites that I have ever had but less fish to the boat. There is no better fish than a tarpon at getting off the hook. Last year I was 21 for 38 which is a very respectful ratio.

Very impressive! Thanks for the info

Kinda lost count on the bites. We were averaging 4 to 6 bites / trip.
We did end up getting 57 tarpon to the boat.

Nice work and nice photos guys. Thanks for the effort on the satellite tagging.

We are headed down to the coast in a couple of days and going to try some late season tarpon fishing. Has anyone been catching them lately??

We are going with JR tomorrow.

We are going with JR tomorrow.

Okay let us know how yall do

Ran the beach around Capers, Dewees, and Bulls today, tossed behind shrimp boats and checked the bay for them but didn’t see any signs. Water temp was 73 in bulls today so gettin a little chilly and wind + dirty water made it hard to find concentrations of bait, but there were some scattered pelicans diving. I’m sure there’s a few of em still around off the front beach but i think the 2011 seasons drawing to a close. Saw the last few free jumpers in the last week of October last year though, gonna check my neck of the woods in St. Helena for more in a few days

nothing up north either. rough conditions and cool water, never got over 72. we did catch 5 bull reds and saw 3 bald eagles and 2 jumping sturgeon so that was cool. probably my last tarpon trip of year.
