I have been wanting to take a tarpon fishing trip with a friend we would go to key west but with work and our schedules the distance from south carolina wont permit going that far down. I am between St. Augustine area and georgia (St. Simons, Sea Island, Jekyll Island area). Anyone have any experience in the area or could point me toward a boat to charter? Basically looking to where I have a better chance then in South Carolina…Leaning toward St. Augustine.

I’m no tarpon guru but I don’t really think the tarpon fishing will be dramatically better ga/n. fla, especially if you wait for the mullet run and pick the right captain.
Thats what I was thinking…I’d say it only gets better in the keys
There are times of the year when port royal sound is as good as any. Usually august is the month to go. If you wll give me your number I can call you when they show up.

The fishing in Ga IS dramatically better, especially around Brunswick/sea island areas. Mark Noble is who you’d want in that region.
