any one else seen tarpon free jumping of morris island or am i seeing things
Saw one a couple of years ago jump about 3 times between Ft Johnson and Castle Pinckney. Coolest thing I had seen and it was rough as heck that day. Wasn’t too bad going to Sullivans Island but almost sank the boat trying to come back across the harbor.
I just got back from San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize and actually fed terpon by hand at a restaurant called the Sunset Grill. They have a school of tarpon that hangs around under the pilings and for $5.00 Belize ($2.50 USD), you can feed them a bag of bait fish. Those things are huge and when they hit your hand, the power is scary. The largest was around six feet and the waiters told us gringos that the BIG ones were out in the lagoon around the mangroves. It was an experience I will not forget. As I was feeding the tarpon, a huge stingray swam through under the docks and its wings barely made through the six foot span of the pilings! Very cool place to visit. Didn’t mean to hijack your thread but I will never be that close to tarpon again unless we go back to Belize.

water temps are above normal so they could very well be here already.
