Tarpon have a way of heightening egos and such, I’ve seen it a lot over the years and dealt with it myself for a bit. Enjoy every encounter, respect the fish and don’t compare your numbers to those of guys who do it every day. That’ll do ya more harm than good.

Absolutely correct. Last year was my first year tarpon fishing. Got lucky caught 4 in Bulls Bay thought I was the chit. This year same spot in BB I have seen tarpon consistently but unable to land one…numerous strikes and jumps but cannot seem to catch one. Kind of like what happens in turkey hunting, kill a few birds and get cocky and you will be punished.

congrats on the catch fritz… sweet fish.

tarpon are a bit more common in winyah bay it seems quite a few cptns catch them on the regular hear. steve is a bad man when it comes to tarpon in the area and allot of people have told me to book a trip with him… it is a dream fish and thought i would need to run to fl to catch one…

now all i need to run to fl for is goliath grouper.
