Tarpon??

Any tarpon sightings with this warm weather?

I’ve been reading the reports out of Florida about them moving up the coast and was thinking any time now. Unfortunately, I haven’t been out lately to see but it might be about time to soak a bait and find out.

Have a charter booked with Fishcall charters in August, he put us on them last year; was hoping to try myself a little sooner.

I know they have been caught in florida. Everything seems to be happening early this year so i suppose it’s not out of the question

I am just waiting for PeaPod’s tarpon report… can’t be too much longer

lol.

i failed miserably last year, but not a bad as wiggs. i got alot closer than he did. i plan to thrash him this year.

don’t tell anybody, but my indicator of when to go is this. i wait until fishcall and kingfisher in G’town start up, i know it’s time when they go. i’m not fishing their area, but do watch for their timing

I just saw 2 five footers about 30 minutes ago.

Heard of one caught in Charleston yesterday and a couple in Topsail Beach this week also. It’s starting. Slow, but starting.

Champ Smith tagged and released one about three weeks ago at the Chas. Jetties. It was pretty small compared to what we usually see up here. 36-inches.

Peapod-Thanks for the reminder. I was trying to put that behind me.

Wait till Opti tries tarpon fishing…I’ll out-fail all y’all

NO WAY you could out fail-fish me. I’d bet money on that one.

Well I’ve tried tarpon about 7 times and once I actually saw one…
Its a bucket list fish for me but right now I don’t have the time or patience to target them

I hooked one one time in the Edisto and after about 30 seconds the fight was over about 200yds from where I hooked it. I know now that I don’t care to catch any of those huge dam minners!

Saw one free jumping last week about 100 yards off the Garden City pier. I’d guess at 4 feet or so. It skied several times and had a pod of pogies blowing up all around it.

Boat drinks, Waitress I need 2 more boat drinks!

I am actually looking at 2 large tarpon right now. My oldest is throwing various lures at them but they’re having none of it.

showoff

Just spotted a tarp,on my boat. Close enough?

The only Tarpon I’ve ever seen was shark fishing one day south of the jetties and a couple hundred yards off the beach. Fishing with cut mullet on the bottom, something took off with my line and out of the water came a big tarpon with his head flopping like it was on a hinge, watched my bait and pyramid go flying and it was over that fast. Nothing left but a racing heart. lol

Fishcall has been targeting them for 2 weeks now, without any success though.

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.

Fontaine Charters got a nice one yesterday
