Just noticed on my boat tax bill that 51.7% goes to a school board. Exactly what type of fish is that?

If they taught fishing in schools I imagine kids would be better behaved and respect nature more.
On a further note, thanks to everyone who takes their kids fishing, a lot of people do on the website and I appreciate that. I can’t wait to have a little one that I can show the enjoyement of fishing to.

I just bought my boat this year and had it registered as well and have not seen a tax bill yet. How soon does it normally take to receive the first one?
It Really Sucks that the schools get that much and they just approved an increase for schools. I think it has to be Piss Poor Managementof our tax dollars.

You will not get a tax bill this year if you bought the boat this year. You have to own it on January 1 then you will get a bill in November. I know this does not make sense but it is what it is.

Some advise when you do get your bill you should call them and ask for the formula they used to get the number. I did mine and with the value they gave my boat (which I wish it was worth that). I still came up $100 lower than they did, with them on the phone. The only thing they said was to appeal to have a chance to appeal it.
