I just bought a used boat. Had the joy of DNR & CHS County Auditors for 3 hrs yesterday and got almost nowhere…
So, my question is where do I pay the sales tax on the boat?
I live near the County offices off Leads Ave.
Property taxes are paid with Confirmation #.
By the way, DNR will not start on this till they have a PAID confirmation.
sounds like you may be asking the wrong question
you pay sales tax at DNR, but you have to pay the property taxes at the county treasurers office before you go to DNR

IF I RESPOND IN ALL CAPS, ITS NOT ON PURPOSE, AND I AM NOT YELLING
I have been to County Tax 3, DNR-2, and etc.
I finally found a man at downtown office that knows whats going on…
The boat is registered in Berkeley. I live in CHS. The new ruling requires us to pay the tax a year in advance, like the cars. However, the software is not ready for this. I am told that hopefully next week.

From CHS County—“Now that the year is 2020, you have to pay taxes on the boat for the year in advance (like a car). We are working on our software system to allow us to do this. We should have a fix for this next week and will issue you taxes to pay then.”.

Finally got hold of a man at Charleston Tax office downtown.
My boat was registered in Berkeley county, which confused the Riverview office as to what I needed.
He said that they do not have the software in place yet to write the receipts, but should have this week.
He was very helpful. He had me email my forms/title and said he would get me what I needed and I could pay online.
