I’m looking for a no kidding professional taxidermist somewhere between Beaufort and Georgetown close along Hwy 17.

My current taxidermist turned out to be a low life oxygen thief. So, I will never be using him EVER again. Thanks for any input.
The only one I’ve used, but I haven’t done a lot. They certainly aren’t the cheapest, but they are professional and do great work. Might be a little out of your way. I plan to take a deer to them this year if things work out like I hope!

Hortman told me he was going to stop doing deer heads, so I ruled him out already. After a bunch of research, I thought he was the best. He probably is, but he personally told me he is done with deer heads. I think I still have it in a message. You are talking about Hortman’s in Pauley’s Island right?

Below is what Hortmans Custom Wildlife Taxidermy sent me:
“In this upcoming season I will not be taking any deer. Because that’ll slow down what I’m working on now and push my November December January customers back into the spring time and I can’t do that to my customers. Sorry for the inconvenience and of course check back during the season. I’ve got a kid working with me now that might be able to help speed things up. If he can I might do a handful of deer this year will see when it gets closer thank you…”

You can’t go wrong with Jim Stout either. He’s near Columbia. Search the web for Jim Stout Taxidermy and it will come up. He’s awesome. Phillips Plantation did one for me and I can’t hang it next to Jim’s because it looks bad. If they aren’t in the same room you think they both look good. His attention to detail was amazing.
