has anybody tried putting a teardrop bead or similar on the line in front of the fly to faciltate going thru the grass. i use them on bass and flounder rigs and im gonna try on the flats. looks like some good tides next week.
I haven’t tried it, but the idea sounds good. I would be really interested in how it works out for you. Where to you normally get the beads?

the teardrop glass are now virtually impossible to find with the hole running top to bottom(plenty available with hole thru the top sideways for dangly necklaces). i bought the last 10 kilos on ebay. i got some light plastic ones from jans netcraft i think. that is probably what i will try with the fly although i have used the glass with a fly on a spinning rod with success. just seems like it is enough like pulling a texas rig thru the crappe that it would work except for the weight of a bass sinker. now that im thinkin i wonder if those floating texas rigs would boost the topwater slickness.
he’s pretty white for a fly guy
