Tearing them up again and wifes new personal best.

Since we did so well yesterday my wife and I decided to hit the water again. Our daughter was in school so it was just the two of us. Made sure the boat was full of gas today so I didnt have to depend on the trolling motor like yesterday. We went back to our favorite dock and the fish were waiting on us. We lost count after 10 and were getting bites every cast for about 2 hours. My wife would kill me if she knew I mentioned this but check out the gloves on her hands in the pics. Her hands were killing her from yesterday! They did come in handy though as her reel broke while fighting a 27" red, and she had to pull it in by hand old school style! Thanks to mad mike at the angler for schooling me on reels today. Going to buy a penn battle 3000 and see how it holds up as soon as I can swing it. My wife also caught her personal best red at 32" and 11 lbs. All fish were caught on finger mullet rigged with 1/0 circle hook and 2 split shots about 8" above the hook. Enjoy

Notice the gloves! This was the fish that broke the reel and she pulled it in by hand.

Broken reel

She was busy sending a text so I got to catch one

Yup what he said
Nice work on the big fish
I took my wife yesterday and we got on a hot trout bite with some nice keepers mixed in but I barely got to fish since she won’t touch live shrimp

Ha ha! Would love to share my spot, but it is one of the two I know! Definitely excited about the battle! Really liked the sargus when I first started acquiring equipment, but they had this combo for a great price and just bought 4 of them.

Stonoman: she drives the boat when we are getting bait, sets and pulls anchor, learning how to bait, puts boat on the trailer, just doesnt clean fish, oh yeah …and is the worlds best mom! I think she is awesome!

Good job, Seawest.

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

Nice catches!

Got you beat though - my wife won’t let me throw the cast net for bait - she loves doing it!

(love the glove)

Ha! I do too.

She will only throw the small net, so I still get some time on the big boy …

Great job, ya’ll. And you saved your azz after fishing a week while the wife and kids were out of town!

Wild about the reel breaking. I have 3 Shimano Saharas that run around $69/$79 that are awesome reels for the price. I got them on a guides advice and they have been money for 2 years now. The kids and friends use them. Especially good since your boys will be wanting reels soon enough.

Great job - again! Glad your family enjoys and appreciates the water like ya’ll do. It will last a lifetime!:sunglasses:

You got that right Vinman! Although the weather didnt cooperate that week, but did hit a few flood tides. The water has been a huge part of my life. Besides sports, it seems to be the one common thing my dad and I share. Hope my kids continue their love of fishing and living in this beautiful place. So far, so good!

It’s great to see and hear of others who are blessed with wives who love to fish! I am so thankful for mine!

Better upgrade to a Stradic.

Growndog: we are very fortunate! I tried for years to get her to go but she wouldnt. Somehow I talked her into it one day and she has been hooked ever since (pun intended!). Now she cant get enough. The other day she woke me up early, and said she just realized it was a good low tide and we needed to get moving! It has increased my fishing and water time 10 fold. Good on you and your wife for enjoying the same thing.

RLS: would love the stradic but that is just too much coin for me to swing!

Thats funny - and I can relate. My wife gets irritated if we sleep through a good tide.

When we married, she owned a Corvette, Jet Ski and a skiff with 25HP motor. Later, we went to the boat dealer and really confused the salesman who was trying to talk her into a fishing boat, as I wanted a ski boat (had a skiff) and she wanted a Champion bass boat. Ha! That boy had to flip his sales tactics!

I bought her a McKee Classic 14 for Valentines Day 4 or 5 years ago. She loves it! We use it more than the other boats now - very economical and can get way back in the small creeks.
