Awesome! Thanks for sharing Courtland!
Thanks for the informative videos Courtland. Do you usually attach your jigs to the split ring? Is the assist hook on the grommet side or attached to the jigs? I have always heard to attach to the solid ring in case the split ring fails and was interested in what you thought. Are you just using split rings that are large enough that you do not worry about them failing?
Currently we have been tying our leader directly to each jig. Each jig has its own hooks. By crimping, in theory, we could use lighter leader and still achieve the same knot strength we currently have with the heavier leader.
Thanks again.

-The leader goes to the grommet/solid ring.
-Hook goes to solid ring
-split ring on grommet/solid ring
-split ring(for jigging) is small as it is only holding the jig weight, not the fish
When in a fast bite and need to quickly retie I have no prolem tieing to the jig itself. No point in losing more tackle when “combat” fishing over a wreck. Last week we lost over 50 jigs. We were shortly using a treble on a split ring on the bottom of the jig and tieing right to the top.
Not all jigs are through wired though so be careful with that. In open water, yellowfin like a nice slow jigging motion. One of the best tuna jiggers I know puts a single hook to the bottom of a jig, ties his leader right to the top. Always seems to outfish everyone. You are alot more likely to snag bottom like this while grouper fishing though.
Donate that to the site and tell them to put it in the “rigs” link in resources above. That area of the site needs some better info to be a real resource.
