Terrace & 226 Friday

Nice early rollout to the ledge Friday morning to give it a try before the weather kicked up. The SST’s and everything finally looked good enough to give it a shot. We found the temperature break at the ledge. It went from 66 to 72 degrees very quickly. There were fliers all over the place and a broken weed line. Normally ideal conditions. But someone forgot to invite the fish. We had wahoo spread out first. Then changed over to more traditional ‘hoos and skirts. Blue and white and black and purple colors were working the best and 72 degree water. There are a couple of broken weed lines out there. We picked at slinger dolphin, but too much effort for too few fish. Went out to 1300’ and 76 degree water looking for any change, without any luck. It should light up in a week, but next weekend is a full moon, so roll the dice when it comes to that. The conditions are just about right. just too much cold water near shore. It beat working and the beer was cold. It was a little bumpy on the way in, but still a good day to go and burn gas.

Sounds like our day. The only fish we caught were out in 1500’. “It beat working and the beer was cold” <–very true.

Full moon is this Wed.Sucks that Thursday is only nice day for a while.Sat and Sunday should be far enough past the moon if the fan will stop.

Well as soon as the moon is right it will blow 30 knots for two weeks straight. I have some boat work to catch up on or might go inshore. If you have to be out of town for important work stuff, it will lay down to glassy flat. Either way I am thinking its going to be good for the month of May.

lets get that fan blowing the warmer water closer to this side of the ledge, get those weeds bunched up so we can have a good catching time…
