I hope I never get tired of it. Had a great season yet again and wish I could hunt this afternoon.
What is this “tired” of deer hunting you speak of?

Tired of doing honey do’s, yes! Tired of working all day everyday, yes! Tired of texting, yes! Tired of reading magazines or news papers, yes! Tired of watching current news, yes! Tired of hunting…Nope and taking that to the grave!!!

You’d take shade roe over deer hunting? At least you can eat deer. Well I guess you could eat the bacon that you use to wrap the roe.
Still have one more day to hunt on Youth Day Jan 6. Taking the Daughter after #5.
what’s the regulation on the youth hunt? does the youth have to actually shoot the deer?

Yes, it’s ONLY legal for the Youth to Hunt/Shoot. Page 107 of the DNR Rules & Regs. Youth 17 yrs and under, 2 Deer limit, youth must have their OWN tags.
Youth Day is for ALL private land state wide. There some restrictions
as to which WMA lands can NOT be hunted on Youth Day.
My Daughter will have to wait on a Buck since the only tag she has left that will still be legal for Youth Day is a Buck tag. She has already killed 4 of her 5 deer WMA limit.
Wish the season lasted another month. This was my first year hunting since 1969. Made a great new friend and mentor, had some success, made some rookie mistakes and some simply dumb mistakes but learned a lot.
WOW 1969 ,you do have a lot of time to make up for. You’ve paid your debt to society,so good luck with your future deer hunting ventures.Everyone’s response makes me feel lucky that I have the time to get burned out on something that most don’t get enough of.

I could never get tired of deer hunting. Had one of the best seasons of my life this year. Hopefully future seasons will be just as productive especially with the new tagging program.

I hunted 108 days during the 2017 season, twice a day on some occasions, and I am carrying 2 youths in the am. I have plenty of time to over do it buddy but it just never happens.

That is some serious logged time hunting! You sound like me 30 years ago. I was given more deer than I shot this year. Did no depredation hunts. I saw some nice bucks, but way more does. Too many of them imo. Maybe just me or the area I’m in, but much more nocturnal Buck activity this year.
Waiting on Bolbie to post his deer fetal study to know exactly when full rut was.

Management, plain and simple. i just don’t want to miss anything so I’m there everyday!
Sounds like you have a great place to hunt salty, maybe I’ll start sitting more and chasing less .Good luck today, I hope you get the youths on em.

How can we believe in something that You’ve never shared? I think you are full of dukie on your statement of having this info for the last 20 years. I call B.S.
Management in a pen is much different than management in the open.
On your management program, what would you say would be the minimum acreage to manage to make it happen? Pretty hard to do unless you have major land and surrounding land owners support. Or a pen.
What can it hurt to share last year’s info, this year is gonna be different.
One last question, is knowing the “exact” time of rut about management or increasing you being able to putting a stander on a Trophy buck? I know I’m just an ignorant Redneck, but we aint not as dumb as “you’re” group of of acquaintances thunk.
