Broke down between the Y73 and Comanche. After seeing that $1943.00 bill from Sea Tow, I decided that $150.00 membership was the best investment I ever made.
Does anyone know a good 4 strk mechanic. Preferably other than Butler Marine. They’re the ones that charged me $400.00 to say “we can’t find anything wrong”. This motor alarmed and shut off…the same thing it did before I took it to them before. Even after letting it sit for a couple hours (waiting for S-Tow) it still would only run for about 30 sec’s.
Does this 150 Yammie suck or is it just mine?
I appreciate the advise. I don’t think I said anything negative about Butler Marine. I just said what they told me and the amount of the bill. I’m sure they have some good mechanics and I do feel they made an honest effort to try and find the problem. It just didn’t help me.
Thanks Again
By the way dod if you have the Sea Tow membership, it doesn’t cost you a penny to get towed. That’s what I would have had to pay if I didn’t have it. I strongly advise everyone to join this thing. The USCG just don’t tow you in anymore like they did when I was a Coastie. You have to be taking on water, lost at sea, or have a medical emergency for them to help you these days. They did call Sea Tow for me though.

I had an 05 Yammy 150 4 stroke on my bay boat. Ran it for about 400 hours, never missed a beat. Now my new to me 05 Yammy 225 - that is another story. I’ll vouch for Charleston Marine though. Good people - good results - very fair prices.

Butler Marine ran diagnostics on their computer, didn’t see anything. They took it out and ran it up and down the Ashley for a while then came back and hooked it up again, still nothing. They also checked cooling water discharge pressure and I think that’s about it. Actually the total bill was $600, but some of that was the 100 hr service.
I hate to hear that you are having trouble. Like already mentioned, please let us know what you find out. I have an 05 F150 that has been awesome for 1378 hrs.
