I had the pleasure of meeting you in 1994 at the boat ramp near Breach Inlet. This ramp soon silted in and we moved to the ramp at IOP Marina.
You were a true expert in fishing so many areas; The Four Corners, Shell Bank, Shoe Marker, Long’s Dock, anything with Hamlin in it (Creek, Sound or Dock), Capers and Dewees Inlets, Breach Inlet rocks, Forts Sumter, Moultrie and Johnson and many more.
Your unselfish habit of “putting people on the fish” has been appreciated by my family and many others who made your acquaintance.
Your favorite times for fishing were the first freeze around late November and any morning at First Light when the tides are right. Both of which have become my favorites.
The lures you used the most are the GLO Top Pup (discontinued many years ago, I believe you painted the eyes on your last ones to keep catching the Hawg Reds), DOA shrimp and Z-Man grubs.
By moving to the upstate, you have avoided the traffic congestion as well as the threat of Hurricanes.
The area will be lonesome without the sight of you standing up in you boat fighting Hawg Reds and Trout.
Thanks, Captain Ed, for your tips in learning to fish the saltwater in and around the Isle of Palms area.
My sons and grandkids have also appreciated your friendship and help.
