Thanks Fellas

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks to those who responded to my post about tranporting my yak to Florida. It came back in one piece with no troubles. Strapped it to my roof rack, upside down, through the scupper holes, cushioned with pool noodles.

While I was down there I went for my first official sleigh ride, an hour and half ride with a 5 foot tarpon! Hooked two, caught one, I also hooked 7 blacktips, landed 4 from the yak, and got my oldest now wanting his own yak, rod & reel, and a cast net. That by far was the best catch ;). Caught 4 snook at night from the shore as well, great trip and can’t wait till the next one!

Thanks for ya’lls advice and help…

Sounds like an awesome trip! Got any pics/video of your sleigh-ride?

Way to go bro. That’s a nice haul.

I’m so salt life I get land sick.

Yeah, sorry, my phone was drowned earlier that day, so no pics. Here is a link to my report for the day. You can look in the same forum for all my posts while I was there, I think there’s 9 or 10 of them.

Oh, I was in a 2010 WS Ride 135…I learned real quick how to turn the yak and lean while being pulled sideways to add more resistance too. Like I said in my report, after 45min, I was beginning to wonder who had caught who…

dayyyyummmm nice! what area where you at?

I was down in Florida at Siesta Key, which is about 20 min south of Sarasota. I was about 150-200yds off the beach when he hit. The last day I was there I was in the middle of a school of about 10-15. They were eating pilchards and all I had were pinfish, so they weren’t interested. The sharks were, but the Tarpon not so much so.

Congrats on an amazing catch.
