I was offshore this past weekend and had to get towed in from 55 miles out and I just wanted to say thanks to Low Bid for relaying info to the Coasties until I could reach them on my radio. Now I am just trying to find out what when wrong with the engine. I’m thinking I got some bad fuel from a local marina but I don’t know yet for sure. Has anyone had any problems with the gasoline at Patriots Point recently?
Big thanks to Sea Tow for the awsome response time and getting us back in safely. From the time we initially contacted the CC, I think it took them about 2:15 to get to us. Sea Tow relayed to us, through the CC, that their ETA was 1:45 from the time they left the harbor. 1:20 min later Sea Tow called me on the radio and said they were 25 min out. 15 min later, I saw them heading straight for us. I can’t say enough for them. They are great. It’s the best $169 I’ve ever spent!! I can guarentee that I will always have Sea Tow for as long as I own a boat (aka, for the rest of my life).
Looks like it was clogged injectors. I have all new filters on the way and I sent the injectors off to www.Injector-Rehab.com to get cleaned and flow tested. I also cleaned the VST screen and cleaned out the tank. If anyone is interested, www.PartsPak.com has the best prices I have seen on yamaha parts.
Hopefully I’ll have it back offshore next weekend.
550 hours. I didn’t know about the other filters in the engine and the VST was never drained. Now that I know, I’ll be draining the VST every month or so to keep the debris out and changing the filters along with my other yearly maintenance. I think if I do that, I’ll get a lot more trouble free years out of it.
