I wanted to say a great big THANKS to Penn and Nasty Dawg. A couple of months ago, someone posted a question about reels. I commented about how much I had enjoyed my Penn Sargus but was disappointed in a corrosion problem even though I washed it after every trip out and it was less than a year old. ND contacted me and asked me a few questions and lo and behold, sends me a brand new Sargus 3000. Man, talk about standing behind your product. It is so nice to see some companies still do. With the new Battle I got for Xmas and my new Sargus, I hope to slay me a few fish when I am able to get back out on the water.
Thanks again Nasty Dawg!
uh oh…open the floodgates!
I just complimented my Penn portfolio with a Battle 2000 and am excited to put her to use!

I have always loved Penn reels and now I have another reason to support this awesome company.
Three-fourths of the Earth’s surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.
Penn really has ramped up their product line and customer service the past couple of years, and if you have not looked much into some of their newer products, ya should. From a retailers perspective, I know how much I appreciate ND and others from Penn and Pure Fishing coming to us for ■■■■■■■■ from the front lines so to speak. Next time any of you are by either HPT location, check out their Legion rods…Great feeling rod that suits well for lowcountry fishing and matches up great to a new battle 3000, and you can get the entire outfit out the door for around $200

I too love Penn Reels. I have a bunch of Penn spinning reels. Everything from 420SS to 7500SS. I have a 4400 and 5500 that I got for my 40th birthday. I have used them non-stop since then. I’m 52 now. The 2 6500’s and 7500’s I have are over 15 years old.
I bought all of them at Haddrell’s.
I have never had one malfunction even once on a fishing trip and I have never lost a fish due to the malfunction of a Penn reel.
I am looking forward to buying a couple of new ones this spring.

I’m gonna jump on the bandwagon with a big plug for Penn and Nasty Dawg. Excellent customer service. I’m a huge fan of the Battle reels. I own three 3000’s for inshore and one 8000 for cobia, kings, tarpon, etc. I also have a Sargus bait caster and that as well is a sweet reel. All built like tanks with super smooth drags…

Optiker, do you have the 64LP baitcaster? I bought that reel 2 years ago and it is in my top 3 of favorites…even an ole spinning reel guy like myself never backlashes that thing! Love it for putting the heat on reds under docks and rockn the reefs. Have it on a St Croix Premier 10-20#, much easier to thumb the spool on a BC style reel when trying to get a big red’s head turned under a dock before he breaks ya off IMO

Scott… Yes! The 64LP… I wanted a bait caster and this reel was recommended to me by Ralph Phillips and to him by Mike Able Sr. Justin at the Mt P location ordered me a G Loomis 6’3" Medium Light with Extra Fast action, and that combo is sa-weeeet! I absolutely love it. I’m still learning the bait casting so I have nested it a couple times but not so bad I couldn’t pull it back out. Every outing I get better and the last outing thats the only rig I used all day with no issues. Right now I have it on a Ralph Phillips prototype rod and after tomorrow I’ll let ya know how I like it

LOL, nice. Good stuff, I remember talking with Ralph a couple years ago about those things and telling him how much I was liking mine…Great reel that is often over-looked in this area.

Just curious, has Penn moved their maunfacturing plant overseas?

“PENN”…“PENNY”, know the difference. One is a company that makes rods and reels and stands behind them. The other is a nurse, wife, photographer, fisherwoman, crabber assistant and dog dresser upper that stands behind her shrimp dip (so I am told).
Lol…ok…let me know when you want a sample of said shrimp dip…
