Thanks & Report

So thank full for the men and women that we were able to take out fishing yesterday. What a great experience, thank you Captain Mike and all who helped make the Wounded Warrior event Possible !! On Thursday afternoon we found that fish were suspended around 60’ deep on the river channels in 90-100 ft of water big pool , but we couldn’t catch many in any one spot. We moved to a hump that was 52’ surrounded by deeper water and caught several 21-23" fish so we decided that was where we would start Friday. When we got there Friday morning the wind was blowing just like it was Thursday afternoon so we anchored up and started fishing, chuming and thumping it took shout 10 minutes to get the fish under us but then it was on we caught 27 fish in 2 hrs. The folks on our boat could not believe it everyone had a great time. I did notice if you got your bait more than 2-3 ft off the bottom you would catch smaller fish. Thanks to all the MSC folks that helped. THANKS TO OUR WOUNDED WARRIORS!!

Had a blast Donnie look forward to this event every year

Always a special day. Really well done and any time we can give back to these heroes it is an honor.

Though our catch yesterday was substandard, I had a great time with some terrific warriors! I apologized for not being able to get us on a better quality fish, but they all replied that it was awesome. It’s all about our perspective. They seemed to enjoy me sticking the bow under a wave on the way out more than anything. At any rate, I plan to be back in the event again next year. It’s a pleasure to serve those who protect our way of life in this small way I can!

Captain Mike, DW and I want to thank all the boat captains that participated in the 5th Troop Appreciation Fishing Derby. Your participation and dedication to our troops is truly awesome for without you guys we wouldn’t be able to pull this event off…what a fantastic sight of all the boats loading and leaving the dock!!! Thanks for making a good time for our brave service men and women…

What a great time and humbling experience. We didn’t catch a lot, but the guys were very appreciative. I kept telling them that the pleasure was all mine. I’ll be back again. Thanks to Captain. Mike, Bill, and DW for putting this event on. It means so much to me to be able to participate.

Y’all had an awesome morning Donnie and the event was top notch! Mike and the gang do such a wonderful job putting this event together every year and I am honored to be able to participate. We didn’t fare as well(5 in the boat with more pulled hooks than I can count). Ended up being anchored in 65’ cutbaiting. All the bites came from the 55’-60’ side of the boat. I took some kids out on Sunday and we anchored in 55’. We steadily caught fish until about 11:00. Ended up with 16 total with a good average size for August. Nothing like what you guys did on Friday but not a bad cutbait bite.
