thanks again Chrisg, you are welcome on my boat anytime!!!
Great boat and a great guy! Had a lot of fun and picked up some pointers as I watched the toolman pull in threee nice fish. He’s been holding out on us. Pointer of the day that I came home with…
Ever have the bait get double hooked (sometimes called foul hooked)?
Take a rubber band (about 1/8 in wide), cut it into 1/8 strips. You now have a (approximately) 1/8 in square of rubber band. Put it on your hook then put the bait on. It will prevent foul hooking!
Always nice to learn from an expert!
A great time was had by all
tprice, your invite is still open, just let me know when…my plan is to be out there every sat/sun/mon until i get bored with it…
now if i can find that stripers bigger brother,i may have to keep him…as much as i am for catch and release, that was actually harder to do than i thought…deep down i wanted to keep him,but it would have been a waste of a good fish…
most of the fish are moving up the tugaloo river right now between t13-16 area, the bigger one was caught at t-30 off the rock ledge.
i marked alot of fish monday in the channel around t15-t18,couldn’t fish for them…the wind was blowing like crazy…
pointers,i here ya chris, one good pointer i picked up is lay off the drag,i know better but as soon i hook one my old deep sea fishing habits kick in,i have a feeling i would have lost the big one if chris hadn’t step in and loosened the drag back up…i will keep practicing:smiley:
Congratulations on the catch ctoolman. I left you a message last week that we would be @ 18 mile creek Saturday. I only came up with a catfish on a down rod. My buddy got one small striper off the red banks. I lost what was probably a nice striper about first light using a small minnow about a foot deep with a float and no weight. The float took off and when I tightened up,it dove and went to the opposite end of the boat. After it went by me there was no stopping it. I never turned it before the line broke. I know, I should have loosened the drag. With these fish you learn from your mistakes.
Keep 'em tight,
Taz
ctoolman, you are in my favorite area. I seem to always pick up some nice fish in that stretch of water.
There is a rocky point on the GA side just above T17 and it seems to produce most of the time.
We were on that spot one day last may and I ran out of bait pulling planers through there. On every pass at least one rod would be hit, we ended up keeping 8(smallest was 8lbs) and lost track of how many we threw back. Funny thing was we caught most of these fish from 11am on, we were about to pack up and come home till we pulled through there but they ate till we ran out of bait.
Good luck and keep up the reports, by the way did they get your motor squared away??
Would really love to head out with you in that nice boat once I get through some deer hunting, getting harder and harder for me to deer hunt nowadays. I sit in the stand and think about stripers.
By the way I have been told of a “secret spot” that is good year round for planer boards that I would like to try out later on this year.
Also does your boat have a ttop. I have one on mine and it keeps me from running up toward the city beach if I am on the big water due to the centerville rd bridge. The fish will be in that area around Charlie T’s and the City Beach in a couple of months but I have to launch at Smiths Mill Landing(off Clemson Blvd) and hope the water is low enough to get under those bridges up there.
yes i have a t-top so depending on the water level i am limited on going near charlie t’s…
motor is running strong still,it was a bad sensor…
don’t feel to bad,i usually am atv riding up in tn this time of year, but i know if i do that this year all i will think about is the boat and fishing,so for now i am going to stay home and fish…can’t complain to much, only had my wheeler 2 years and i have 7000 mile son it,it needs a rest…
headed back up the tugaloo this weekend, hope to be able to post so good results(fingers and toes crossed)
