Since there is not much rock fishing down here, I decide to post this. I took my oldest boy rock fishing in the Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Rapahanock River with my Dad two days before Thanksgiving. We caught 12 rock fish only 6 (our limit) were over 18"(size limit). My boy had a good time so that was the only thing that matters to me. By the way, everytime I go to insert an image, I get this
. If anybody can help me, I will post some pics.

Highfly,
I grew up fishing in that area as well. We used to stay at the Dockside Inn in Deltaville or sometimes Windmill Point on the northern side of the Rappahanock. Haven’t fished there since 2000 when we moved to NC. Thanksgiving week was always a great time to get the cows, when the water temp had dropped to low 60’s, upper 50’s. Been a mild fall, maybe the larger rockfish haven’t moved in yet from the ocean. Did you troll the edges of the channel? What baits–bucktails, mojo’s, umbrella’s?
Ben,
We used bucktails, storms, mojos, atomics, and umbrellas to diversify our spread. Actually, my dad lives in Deltaville off of Bushypark Creek. It is a creek right down from Sturgeon’s Creek. He keeps his boat at Chesapeake Cove Marina in the winter.
