The Abaco's

Going to the Abaco’s next year for a honeymoon/fishing trip. Anyone been there before that has any suggestions on a place to stay and some info on inshore or offshore guides that you might recommend?

Thanks

Abaco Inn on Elbow is a great choice. Its a short boat ride from Marsh. It has great service and probably best food on Elbow. Abaco Inn also gave us free ice for our cooler and free dockage for our boat. Abaco Inn has a decent bar and is walking distance to SeaSpray (another marina/restaurant bar). There are a few other places in Hopetown as well. If you stay @ Abaco Inn, be sure to rent a golf cart too. Not a lot of “five-star luxury” in the Abacos, but great vacation for boating/fishing lifestyle. Definitely rent a boat for the week. The bigger the better, the sound can get a little rough. Check out Tripadvisor.com for actual pics and real reviews of the diff hotels/inns. There are lots of villas and houses for rent all over the islands too.

Thanks for the info, I will look into it all.

I second the Abaco Inn. Wife and I stayed there several years ago and loved it. Rent a boat for sure just to cruise around.

My Mom was born in Guana Cay which is only a 45 minute ferry ride from Marsh Harbor. I would recommend staying there, eating a conch burger from Nipper’s Bar and Grill and using H & R fishing charters (It’s my cousin haha) while there. Just a suggestion though

The earlier posts about Green Turtle and Guana Cay are dead on -both are wonderful places. In fact, it would be hard to find a bad place in the Abacos. My wife and I did a VRBO on Guana for our honeymoon and I would go back in a heartbeat. I have fished several guides down there and think that any of the Sawyer guides would be a winner. The Sawyers are a family where most of the men are guides. I have to tell you I’m jealous -catching a bonefish is a blast!

What did you pay for the inshore trip when you went?
