The Banks 10/19

Got to Bennetts about 12:30pm. 2 hrs into the outgoing. Baited up by 12:55. Setup in about 8’ of water. Ran the poles about 4 hrs until 5:00. Back at the landing by 5:35. Had half cooler in 3 passes:smiley: - 3/4 in 6 passes - had to work on the rest - 12 to top it off. Pulled the poles about 1/2" shy of a full cooler. Combination of the tide and wind off the rain storms made it too hard to run the poles and it was looking nasty. Was still a mixed size. About 50%Med -40%Lg - 10%small & x-Lg. Better size and haul than the last trip. When your freezer is out - you gotta go get some. First couple runs had us pumped. Still was a nice day and nice catch on the water. Almost made it home before the game started. Don’t care to talk about that.:imp: I had a first on this trip. I threw the net - line was twitching - shrimp jumping - them line got real heavy and jumping hard??? Netted a loggerhead about 18". He took a quick stop in the tub to get my net out his beak and released to swim on his way again. He looked like he could lope a finger pretty quick with that beak. Was pretty neat. Got some pics - try to post later. Might try one more time on the 2nd.

Thanks for the report, I’ll be out there early in the morning and try the incoming. Hopefully I can put up another cooler.

Its St.Helena Sound, put in at Bennets Point, its south of charleston off hwy 17

You can’t catch fish on a dry line

I caught a logger head last year. It took me about 30 minutes to get him back in the water. I too was nervous I was going to loose a finger from that beak.
