Met some new friends in Anderson Creek to deep hole and things looked great for about ten minutes when every boat in the bay saw what we were doing…
Apparently the shrimp scattered because things kinda turned off. We moved about the bay to our usual deep holes, but not much happening. Ended up with 1\2 cooler.
We did get to spend some time with the man who taught us all about Bulls Bay more than 10 years ago.
Mr. Simmons (Yes he’s related to the Simmon’s Seafood family), has lived in the area all his life and knows where to go to catch shrimp. Even at 80 years old he can still sling a 8 foot net like a 20 year old!
Enjoyed meeting up yesterday.
That was some combat shrimping at its finest.
I liked the technique some of the boats were using: instead of looking at your sonar, just look to see who pulls up some shrimp in their net and then motor over and throw next to them. It was all good though, everyone was cool and having fun, except for the shrimp.
You got me center shot there…bananna suit on the bow of that red Pioneer standing on my shrimping “porch”.
It was one of the most beautiful days in Bull’s Bay I’ve seen. Just wish more shrimp would have been about.
It was all good with that fleet. Everyone was cool with the whole event. That’s awesome Me Simmons is still throwing.
We chatted with them a bit as we passed in the queue…
