Man ya’ll… 3 times now I have had a beast of an Asp either break me off or spit the hook at the waters edge… well tonight I landed that sucker! I didn’t have a tape on me but the “MANN” on my name tape is 2" and it took 10 little boxes to meet the length so I am guessing right around 20" and had to be at least 4 lbs… Hokey Smokes… I landed her on my March Brown 8wt and I thought I had snagged the black bugger with a long tail and some flash on the grass and then the grass started to fight back… the fight itself was very anti-climatic… a few good pulls but no runs and she didn;t take an inch of line back… the carp inthe 3rd pix was a better fight really but was a 1/3rd of the size Enough gabbin here’s the pix!! I have only seen one bigger so I am gonna do some research on the record… I need to start using the 6wt I have and try to get a little better fight outa these guys… I used a black M4 variant tonight and slammed a few more but none close to the Beast in size
I got and awesome March Brown 8wt If anyone wants to send me a 10wt I’d give it a wing I was using a new fly I am calling “Kens Asp Crack” Every cast last night I either caught a fish or had a pretty good hit on it… I’ll shoot some pix and post…
quite possibly, the funniest fly name Ive heard in a long time. it just replaced “floater in the pool”.
you can catch those on an 8wt, plus if it breaks, send a sad note to MB and tell them what/where you are and i bet they send you an arsonal!!
