Just curious as to why? Don’t intend this post/thread to be stone throwing, WWE Smackdown slamfest, but interested in others thoughts on why they are closing and if there is a plan to open up in a different location. I think the WA location is closign as well. Seems there’s plenty of anglers in the area to support all of our local shops. I have shopped at both Haddrels and TCA and occasionally at PSA.
I know it was bought by a new owner in 2017. I personally didn’t see any changes that would negatively affect sales or customer service. I typically always had a good experience there, save for a few different personalities over the years, but that’s gonna be the case with any retail location imo.
I will say it was always disappointing that the Mt. P location never would carry live shrimp.
I believe I read somewhere that they’re going to focus on e-commerce sales and TCA branded product.
As far as why, I’m sure there’s only a handful of people that know the truth. There’s already a ton of speculation out there and a lot of that revolves around ownership (which raised a lot of eyebrows when the new ownership came onboard) but again, it’s simply speculation.
My thoughts are with the TCA employees. Hopefully they weren’t blindsided by this and there is a contingency plan for the ones that won’t be retained in some capacity.

It’s not talking crap if you can back it up…and nothing can back it up better than facts.

Yes, really hate it for all of the TCA staff that are affected by this. They always were helpful and professional.
That sucks for many reasons. I wonder if they’ll still do the “By The Numbers” tourney?? It was tons of fun while it lasted.

Oh, Yeah. That was a fun little tournament. Maybe another shop in town will pick that one up if for some reason TCA is no longer around.
Definitely one of the funniest. It lasted a long time, was more up to chance than anything. No pressure, just fun fishing with a slight objective
Maybe Hadrells can change the name or something and do their own version…lol

West Ashley was nuts today about 10am. I got the rod and reel I was looking for and no one got punched so it was a good day. Rods, reels, yetis, and sunglasses were going first, you may be able to get some good plastics still.
Was in the Mt. P store on Saturday and it was picked over. Got a bag of 25 VMC 10/0 circles, 12-3oz dredge mullet pin-rigs as well as a couple of bags of Z-Man plastics for less than $40.
Saw that Lowcountry Fly Shop closed as well. Hate to see these small outfits go out of business.
