Took a fine red this morning with this cajun spoon. Nice copper color really makes it visible when the water is a little muddy or it’s overcast. Got this one from a buddy. Anyone know where to get something similar?
If you can get a better shot of the spoon. I might be able to tie up some. It looks like the spoon is made from copper colored mylar tubing…But its hard to tell from that picture.

I think your right. I believe the fly is called a cajun pepper. Not sure. I’ll get a better shot. Are spoon flys very difficult to tie?
True…They are kinda tough to tie. The epoxy part on most flies is easy. Its getting the right shape and how the spoon sits on the hook that is hard. I always give them a Bathtub test before puting them in the flybox. Here is a spoon I tied a few days ago…Its not real pretty…but it passed the bathtub test.
Sorry these pics are so big…Ive yet to figure out how to just post thumbnails
I like the large pics. Lets you see all the details. Can you put weed guards on your flys? This one looks very similar to what I was using yesterday. I really like the circle hook. I wonder if that would increase hook up percentages.
I need to try a few with a weed guard…I was gonna try some tonight but didnt have any 40lb mono. Here is another copper spoon…Its a little dif and I added a some flash for a tail
I’ve used these spoons before and they work very well when thrown into a bait ball in front of some spot tails
I really like the second one with the flash. How sturdy is that epoxy. Alot of the ones I have bought from the angler are flimsy. The expoxy is really flexible.
Haddrells in WA has some copper spoons that are small but they are pretty sturdy.
