Got a call from my son-in-law on Thursday that he want to fish on Friday as the seas looked real good. Put the boat in at about 4AM and headed out on a slick ocean. Got to 175’ just as the sky starting lighting up. Set the spread and had our first hit in about 10 mins. Pretty sure it was a wahoo but came off after about 10 mins (hook broke off the lure). Had a couple more knock downs but no hookups than nothing for about an hour. Captain beside to do some high speed trolling (first time for me) and we set out a spread and starting going over the ledge. First past and put a nice 45# wahoo in the boat. About hour later had a double hookup but the hook pulled on both fish. Than nothing for another hour or so and than put another wahoo in the boat that was about 30#. Ended the day with 3 the last one just about 25#. Not a great day buy it was sure nice to get out there and the fish were just a bonus. Stayed on the ledge and we never went over 200’. No weed lines, a lot of bait but mostly small fliers and the water temp was 80.
