First striper on the fly. Caught it off my folks dock outside Bluffton this past weekend. Boga’ed in at 12 lbs. I’ve been catching these things for years under the lights but never tried one on the fly for fear of having it run under the dock and not having the horsepower to get it back. Turned out this fish ran for deep water, thus solving the dillema. Again, the conventional gear will be retired and fly will be the rule off the dock henceforth.
Stripers on the fly are a blast.
I now could not agree more. Where have you caught them?
I’ve caught some in the Bushy Park area.Nothing near 12lbs though, but still a good fight.

Good deal. I assume you catch them in the cooler months? I guess around here thats now an oxymoron. I should say in the tepid months months of Nov., Dec. and Jan.
Yeah this is the time,i’ve also caught them during the warmer months also.

Let me know if you want to give it a shot sometime. I’ll drive.
I haven’t caught a striper on the fly in ten years. Nice!

Hmmmm… I was up from the landing on Saturday and me and the brother nabbed two 15" reds and I saw a huge crash outside the creek and figured it might have been reds but it might have been stripers… I heard 3rd creek is doing pretty good too… We need to link up and hit it… I am stuck at work, I have to run my guys heading over to Iraq through advanced rifle and pistol courses and go over some new CQB stuff but I may be able to get some time on Sunday… I’ll check wiht the boss and with the Big Boss ( wife) and let ya know… I would LOVE to get some fish on the fly… I have been itching for it for a LONG time…
Edit: You me and Stretch… those fish my be in trouble
