Headed to the upstate this weekend and found em boilin’. I called my buddy Chris last week after a week of receiving some pretty upsetting pictures of fly-caught stripers on my hometown reservoir. We fished friday evening and Saturday mornin and caught fish both days. The action was strangely similar to the fishing in the shipping channel last weekend, runnin and gunnin, and while the schools would sound fairly quickly, the hook-up ratio seemed to be in the angler’s favor. The spotted bass were on the bait as well, and we managed to catch a few. The fall can’t be beat for schoolin activity, and if you’re an upstate angler who isn’t lucky enough to chase albies and spanish all fall, there’s plenty of action close to home so get on it!
