Hit the Wando this morning to hit some trout drops I haven’t fished in a long while. Caught a few trout on top water with the sun rise, had a few acrobatic trout that hit every part of my spook except the hook. Rode the tide down pretty close to the highway 41 bridge and anchored out in spot that is closer to to the middle of the river than the bank in ripping outgoing tide, anchor rode was humming. Was catching trout about every 3rd cast by casting a trout trick up current and bouncing back thru hole. Trout were in the 15-20 inch range. Next cast doing same thing when I get a nice tap and drag starts going out in short spurts, feel the head shaking, getting excited thinking I ve got a nice gator. Fish is in current cross ways making me nervous and then ------------------- a 29" cooper flash below me and I caught a red that thought he was a trout out in a deep hole in the river.
Great report - congrats on the trout & red…I haven’t had a lot of luck with the trout trick lures. Electric Chicken and Pearl colors have worked best for me this year.
