@ the Gordon

Went out to the Gordon yesterday and started out nice as we left the landing about 68 or 70, short sleeve temps… once we hit the Beaufort river that all changed… hit fog and the temp droped to around 45 or 50…… it was like walking from inside your house to outside…… COLD as @#*%…then got oof shore and waves were strong 4 footers changing to 5 -6 footers…. Only marked a few fish and got skunked…. But a bad day on the water is better than a good day at work.
Temp here about 65-70… nice

Temp here about 30 secs. Later 45 - 50ish… COLD as sh*@

My question, too. What is the gordon?

General Gordon… its an offshore wreck just outside of Port Royal sound

been there once. the water isn’t but like 25 35 foot deep that i rememeber. pulled some sheeps that was it if your going to go to the gordon you might as well go to the tire reef the fishing is some of the best for nearshore reefs.

The Gorden has some of the best Sheephead fishing around. It is a great place to catch Spanish latter in the year.

The Boiler holds some good sheeps, spades as well. You just better know where you’re going at or near low tide. You’ll find it the hard way if you’re not careful.

The last time I was out there I was living in Hilton Head, about 11 years ago so I couldn’t tell you. Plenty of it stuck out at dead low tide back then. 1/4 to 1/3 incoming it was trouble I do know that. I’m sure it’s still a good little spot. We used to also fish an area we called the outer range, north of the channel. It was always good for the breeder reds, cobia and very nice sized hammerheads. Another spot in the sound off Hilton Head is Hole in the Wall. We hooked a huge tiger shark there but didn’t have the goods to deal with him. We were fishing the Water Festival tournamnet and just knew we had a winner. There’s great fishing in and around that sound.
