Got to ramp about 9 ish. Talked to one boat coming in already with 3/4. Nice muddy water and no wind at all. Half of the bay
went home by 1200. Shrimp everywhere. Our best year yet 3 trips =3 coolers. A lot better than last year with 5of 6 trips with mostly 1/3 coolers. All done by 9 to 12 ish 1 trip outgoing tide and last 2 out. No porpoises any of the trips on poles. One nice shrimp almost tall boy size. Caught a few tiger shrimp too. Very nice looking dnr agent doing fish surveys at ramp. Till next season god willing. And remember the old sportsman show take a kid fishing.
What a great report and outing. Good job and we’ll see you next season.
You too. Thanks for the input as well to the board.
I remember that old sportsman show well.
nice lookin dnr? I’m going to the wrong ramp
Tiger shrimp? Did you get a picture?
Second shrimp Pic at the bottom under beer can. I guess they are called cotton shrimp or a species of prawn.
Not trying to be a know-it-all, and I certainly could be wrong, but I believe that the “cotton shrimp” are in fact diseased. To my knowledge, there is no danger to humans from consumption, but I believe that’s what this is, and not a tiger shrimp.
Halfway down the page there’s more info than this
“Several diseases affect shrimp. One of the most common, cotton disease, is caused by a single cell protozoan parasite called a microspordian. These tiny animals invade various tissues of the shrimp, turning the affected areas grey or white. Cotton disease may affect only the head or the reproductive system but often spreads throughout the shrimp’s entire muscular system. Cotton disease is most common in large white shrimp, but can affect small white shrimp, as well as other species.”

I still feed 'em to the dogs or use as bait
Resident biologist dropping knowledge
Hope you good baba
Ok so white shrimp with cotton disease. If i catch some next year i will refer them to maybe as zebra shrimp. Called them tiger i guess because of the stripes and it sounded cool and my uncle who got me hooked on recreational shrimping now up in the heavens use to call them by that name. but technically tiger shrimp is a different species of course in itself.
Call 'em what you want! I like “zebra shrimp”, that should catch on around here nicely. Sorry you can’t go with your uncle anymore, but I’d bet he’s looking down pretty proudly at that cooler!
I have wanted to catch a tiger shrimp for a long time. They get huge, and the commercial draggers get a few sometimes. From what I understand, they show up here mostly because of escape events from shrimp farms, I think Caribbean and gulf… usually due to storms
Oh she’s out there.
DNR knows EXACTLY what they are doing
Welcome to the site!!
Y’all go easy on her, she’s new.
I’m looking at you, Pea
