Left Battery Creek Landing at 0415 with James and “Lil Al”. The wind was stronger than expected but out of the West. Ran through the sloppy 2’ seas to the Deli. Lines in at 0745…20 minutes later we had 3 Mahi on, but only one made it to the fish bag. Worked the ledge, picking at ‘em all day. Finished 6 for 11. Still some kinks to work through but not a bad day. Water temp was 74.8-75.9 on the ledge. Lots of flyers from 180-250’. All fish were caught in 200-240’. Hot lure was blue/white Iland Sailure with a hoo off the long rigger.
Highlight of the day was watching a nice bull first crash the port short followed by the starboard long with no hook up…he finally hooked himself on the spreader bar chase bait. All in less than 45 secs.
Thanks to Freebird for the buddy boat. It was a pleasure working with ya’ on the radio.
What kind of boat is that? Looks like a big skiff! That is pretty bad ass… Although, I will say that I don’t appreciate you guys giving away my favorite fishing spot in the horizon of this picture. Looks like they are biting right off the beach.
Ha ha! The “Po Po”! That has got to be a first! Just your friendly neighborhood Jarines. Thanks for the tip…sharpening as I type!
Boat is a 26’ Twin Vee Weekender. I think they call it the Express now. No frills, put her away wet kinda’ boat. She ain’t the prettiest or the fastest, but she gets it done.
Boats up North seem to be doing well. Seemed like the boats everywhere were doing well actually. Heard on the radio someone thought they caught a Mahi that will break the state record. Can’t wait to see pics of that one.
Man I wish they were that close! Certainly would make the gas bill a bit easier!
Tight lines to all.
